We are looking for business development interns to assist in various stages of the sales funnel, including creating awareness of new offerings, generating leads, and retaining customers.

The ideal intern will be a great fit for our energetic and creative team. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on challenging, meaningful projects with guidance from a mentor and other members of our team.

Sales Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and generate lists of potential customers
  • Provide input on customer briefs, presentations, and sales literature
  • Help develop client relationships and retain existing accounts
  • Assist in evaluating new sponsorship opportunities
  • Learn and apply sales techniques
  • Maintain sales records

Potential Career Experience Activities

1. Market Research

  • Interns conduct research to identify new markets, industry trends, and potential customers. This involves analyzing competitor strategies, market conditions, and customer preferences to inform business development strategies.

2. Lead Generation and Qualification

  • Identifying potential clients or partners and assessing their value to the organization. Interns might use various tools and databases to gather leads, followed by outreach or initial contact to gauge interest and fit for the company's offerings.

3. Sales Support and Strategy

  • Supporting the sales team by helping to develop sales strategies, preparing presentations and proposals, and sometimes participating in client meetings or pitches. Interns learn the sales process and how to effectively communicate value propositions to prospects.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Assisting in managing relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction, resolve any issues, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling services. This might involve regular communication, feedback collection, and meeting coordination.

5. Strategic Partnerships

  • Working on identifying and developing strategic partnerships with other businesses that can enhance the company’s market position or product offerings. This includes researching potential partners, initiating discussions, and helping to negotiate and finalize agreements.

6. Project Management

  • Supporting the planning and execution of business development projects, from initial concept through to implementation. This can include coordinating with internal teams, managing timelines, and ensuring that project goals align with broader business objectives.

7. Analytics and Reporting

  • Analyzing data related to business development activities, such as sales performance, market research findings, or partnership outcomes. Interns may also assist in creating reports that provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

8. Marketing Collaboration

  • Collaborating with the marketing team to ensure that business development strategies are supported by marketing campaigns and materials. This might involve input on messaging, participating in campaign planning, or using marketing data to inform business development tactics.

9. Networking and Events

  • Representing the company at industry events, conferences, or business meetings to network with potential clients or partners. Interns learn how to effectively communicate and promote the company in professional settings.

10. Product or Service Development Feedback

  • Providing feedback to product development teams based on market research and client interactions. This can help inform the development of new products or improvements to existing services to better meet market demands.

Requirements

  • High school sophomore, junior, or senior with an interest in Sales, Marketing, or Advertising
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of social media
  • Driven and hard-working
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task
  • PowerPoint, Word, and Excel experience a plus (alternatively, Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides)
  • Canva experience is a huge plus

Application Process

  1. Applying for Internships - Internships are usually only specified for the city listed in the description, even for remote roles. Please do not apply for roles with city specifications if you are not in the metro area of that city.
  2. Screening - We screen your information to make sure you are a fit for the role. Applicants must be at least 14 years of age and be a sophomore, junior, or senior in high school in the United States that has NOT graduated high school. If you have applied for a role in a city that you do not live in, your application will be moved to our remote pool for further processing. If you are international or have graduated from high school, your application will be declined. Freshmen in high school MAY BE considered on a case-by-case basis. Please do not apply if you have graduated high school.
  3. Virtual Video Interview - Within 48 hours of receiving your application, you should get an email with a link to our interview system. This is an asynchronous interview that you can complete any time your schedule permits. However, please take the interview seriously and give yourself a quiet area to complete the process for the best possible video interview.
  4. Assessments - Within 24 hours of completing your interview, you will receive an email to complete your assessments. These assessments are based on the role you applied for and can take about an hour to complete. We use the assessment as a baseline to properly place you for internships that we have with our clients.
  5. Onboarding - Once all previous steps are completed, within 48 hours, you will receive a date for onboarding. This will start with a call with our CEO to introduce you to the company and get you set up in the system so that we can start assigning projects. In many cases, we may have projects ready for you to start within a week of onboarding.
